Goulburn Mulwaree LGA Economic and Community profile

Australia’s first inland city, Goulburn is a centre for light manufacturing and agriculture.  With its strategic location on the Hume Highway between Sydney and Melbourne, there is an ongoing interest in developing a regional freight hub in the area.  The main industries by employment level are retail trade, health and community services and personal and other services, highlighting its role as a service centre to the surrounding region.  It has the full range of facilities expected in a large regional centre. A significant initiative for the area has been the establishment of the innovative Woodlawn Bioreactor at the former Collex mine site near Tarago.

Business opportunities and residential development are expanding in the village of Marulan, with the nearby Hume Highway service centre, and offering a choice of village blocks, rural living and agricultural properties.
